Type the following commands in order, pressing Enter after each: msiexec /unregister. I uninstalled, installed, deleted all Java files in Oracle & Sun folders, cleaned up registry entries,turned of Zonealarm firewall, rebooted, etc. To fix this problem in 32-bit Windows, open the Command Prompt window as described above. I never had a problem installing Java until today: all updates and always get the 1603 error.
